This text gives a comprehensive overview of how TRIZ has evolved over the years. The layout of the material is superb, allowing the concepts to build off each other and organizing the content into conceptually coherent sections. Savransky makes sure that the reader understands the underlying philosophy and theory of the methodology before introducing the heuristics and principles. ARIZ is presented as a capstone of all the previous material and ensures a cohesive synthesis of all of the other ideas presented in the book. He also provided a good amount of appendix material.The book might be challenging for beginners in TRIZ; however, there are a lot more resources available now in English (such as on the Web) to provide examples and further background to round out any unclear areas. After all, Savransky does cover a lot of ground in this book! On that note, there are a few editing errors which might throw off someone trying to learn but these can be quickly sorted out through careful reading and logic when something seems unclear. Overall, an excellent and comprehensive resource.

Easily the most advanced book on TRIZ yet published. This book will be difficult to read if you do not already know some TRIZ basics. But, if you are looking for more on TRIZ, this is difinitely the source. The book has original content not available in English anywhere else. Savransky is also willing to criticise Altshuller and point to improvements in the works for TRIZ. My only complaint is that the author prefers Substance-Field analysis rather than the more useful (in my opinion) Tool-Object-Product analysis.

The excellent book: the most comprehensive, detailed and advanced approach to TRIZ. Full of new brilliant ideas and well-organized known results with tremendous theoretical and know-how explanations this book becomes a TRIZ bible. May be difficult for novices in TRIZ but the only modern book that each TRIZnik must read.

Just read it; you will be heartened, inspired and moved into constructive action, out of despair and overwhelm.

Coming Back to Life is one of the important books of our time. The view of the world and these times that Joanna and Molly offer is clear and compelling. And for me it is spot on. The exercises and processes they share are powerful. They offer us guidance for working with groups of people to stand awake in this world and to step forward to make a difference. Lately I've been using this framework as a core part of my work in Japan -- both in the 3.11.11 disaster area as well as in other parts of the country. The space it opens up for people is incredible. This is an excellent book about one of the most interesting historical periods ever to occur. I think this is the book that would have made history class interesting rather than the subject we all wanted to escape.Whether you are familiar with the Plantagenets and Tudors or not, this book will tell you everything you need to know on the subject. I feel smarter after having read it.In the beginning I had some concerns that the author may be getting too conversational and relaxed with this work, but the information he provides is flawless. This isn't exactly a continuation of his previous work, but rather a nice compliment to the previous book.If you are interested in the history of England and those who ruled in former lifetimes, this is a great book for you. The author is funny, makes valid points throughout the course of the book and begins before most of the common books on this subject begin, so you get a better picture of the whole time period.Overall, I really enjoyed this book.Recommended.This review is based on a complimentary copy from the publisher and provided through Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Dan Jones, who gave is a first class account of the Plantagenet line of English kings, now turns his attention to the sprawling, difficult history of two main lines of English royalty, the house of Lancaster and the house of York. This takes up half of the fifteenth century, from 1420 to 1471. It is a terribly involved story, with many Edwards and Henrys, with brutal battles on remote moors, with beheadings – even some of which were marred by cleavers that missed their target, imprisonments, chicanery, and deceit. Almost nowhere do we read of a strong king who was able to draw the country together, to move on from its constant obsession with the concept of conquering pieces of what is now France, to lift the country on to a higher economic and cultural plane. Those efforts came later, beginning soon with the ascent of the Tudors, most importantly with Henry VIII and his daughter, Elizabeth I.Despite the high level of action and even suspense, this story is not at the level of Jones’ previous book on the Plantagenets. It suffers, annoyingly in this reader’s opinion, from a total disinterest in making the story easy to follow. There are detailed geneology charts but the blood lines are difficult to follow and, in some cases, use different names for the same individual. In no case are there any dates on any of the charts. This is a period of English history that is riotous and confusing and it is not made any more transparent by these charts.But let us put this aside. Mark it as a mild objection but not anything crippling. The main story is terrific and when Jones gets his history rolling it is nothing short of gripping. We are led through Henry V’s stirring battle at Agincourt (“we happy few, we band of brothers”), Henry VI presiding over Parliament at the age of two, Jean d’Arc’s rescue of the French army before her destruction at Orleans, the loss of France, Richard III fighting unsuccessfully at Bosworth Field and thus ending the weakening hold on the crown held by the Plantagenets since 1154. Think of this: the Plantagenets and their two main branches of descendants, the Lancasters and the Yorks, for all their weaknesses, had guided Britain for more than 300 years, taking it from the Middle Ages to the brink of Britain’s surge to greatness starting with Henry VIII.I liked this book because it says so much about the drama of English history. On the other hand, reading this book is frustrating for anyone not intimately familiar with the convoluted family tree of English royalty in the 15th century. There are very few hints as to the full dates that are being discussed, very little help in identifying the procession of English monarchs in one easy to read chart, with dates and very little to say about the country itself – its culture, climate, geography, economy, or laws. Overall, it is a worthwhile read but it can be a frustrating read.

This is a fair and balanced look at one of the bloodiest times in England's history. I really enjoy Dan Jones' style of writing. His books do not fall into the category of "popular" history but they do read like them. He truly brings to life the bygone era of which he writes. This book is rich in details of the men and women who took part in the Wars of the Roses. I especially liked Jones' treatment of Richard III. Jones simply presented the facts of the man, both good and bad, without bias. Richard III is such a controversial figure and there are tons of books, both fiction and non, that either praise him as a misaligned saint or the malicious sinner of Shakespeare. I like that Jones stuck to historical fact without judgment, using both contemporary and near contemporary sources. Overall this is an excellent book and definitely worth reading if you have even a passing interest in the time period. The book is clear and concise, which makes it easy to follow the tangled web of the politics and battles of the time.

I would give this TEN stars. This book was amazing. Dan Jones' writing style is absolutely engaging. It reads more like a novel than a historical book, which sucked me in. There was SO MUCH going on that it took me a while to remember all of the characters, but all of the info was completely digestible. It wasn't pretentious or snarky (as if we are all scholars of the Plantagenets) and it was accessible and just...FUN to read. I would, however, suggest reading Dan Jones' book The Plantagenets *before* this one, just to help you get into it and understand why everyone is fighting. (I read this one first, and I wish I'd gone in order - though still totally worth all of the reads.) This book makes me wish I'd studied this more in college. GREAT read. Highly recommended.

I also applaud the removal of the “x” from the trigger point diagrams.Thank you to Joseph Donnelly and all of the other writers and contributors for what must have been a gargantuan effort. I know it will inspire many current and future practitioners to be more thorough in their evaluation and treatment of patients and will thereby provide more relief for innumerable pain sufferers.

The research in this field is surging, and is presented in a coherent and precise way. This book is a good update to the originals, which were published in the 1990's. Seems to be up-to-date on current concepts of Myofascial Pain. Also, it is much less expensive than the original volumes.

I have the last editions. They were a two book set. Haven’t had time to read all of this, but I know from past experience that this book is extremely useful

Accommodating factors that perpetuate chronic muscle pain are not at all in detail as put forth in the original editions. They are a major factor in eliminating chronic muscle pain is identifying these factors and changing muscle memory patterning.Stretches illustrated seem to tighten muscles or inadequately stretch with the positioning suggested for performance.

I have appreciated the layout, the updated scientific studies, and data, the colorful images, as well as the depictions of appropriate interventions to address myofascial pain. Way too gory. This was twisted, demented and absolutely disgusting. To each their own if you're into that but the author should have warned that literally EVERY ASPECT of this book has something to do with violence, pain and blood. THEY RIP INTO EACHOTHERS CHESTS TO USE THE BLOOD AS LUBE AND STICK THEIR TONGUES INTO OPEN WOUNDS AND WRIGGLE THEM AROUND. I couldnt get past more than 5 chapters it was so disturbing. Be careful when buying this if these things disturb you.

I read it to the end, so that's an automatic three stars from me, but I didn't really enjoy it. It wasn't the blood play - though that was strangely clinical and not hot for me. It was that it was poorly written and characterized. Each man felt like a cipher, with two personality attributes given to differentiate him, and that was it. Usually I highlight the sentences that I like or moments that spoke to me as I read the book, but this time I didn't take any notes or highlights. To be honest, I found Karter, the were/blood source, a bit annoying, and so none of the erotic connections sang for me. There could have been some real poignant moments but they just felt flat. I love some intense vampire/were drama and was up for that, but this missed the mark for me.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is rather extreme for those who dont have exposure to blood play or cant handle gore well, but I thought it was very clever the way the author used the vampiric nature of the characters to incorporate blood play. I'm looking forward to another book in the series! My only rub is that the way pain is depicted and experienced by Karter doesnt feel accurate, it seems he doesnt really feel the pain unless he doesnt want it which isnt entirely accurate to masochism, but all in all I still enjoyed it a lot!

Honestly, it wasn't a bad book. The characters were interesting and so was the dynamic between the characters. Karter is attracted to danger and he's in need for a wake-up call, so when his pack forces him to deal with his issues, he gets stuck servicing a coven of vampires. I liked reading the interactions between the characters, though some of the scenes were quite disturbing. The scenes depicted in this book might not be for everyone, but once you get past the bloody/kinky sex, it's actually an alright read.I just have three problems with this book.1. I wish it was longer or that we actually get to see Karter learn about the vampires. I want to see them get to know each other. I can see the growing attachment between the characters, but I want to see how they all fall for Karter. I want to feel it. A relationship should be based on more than sex, and the only thing Karter really knows about the vampires is their sexual preferences.2. In the end, Karter has this horrific thing happen to him, and yet the author makes it seem as if what happened was just like getting bit by a mosquito. In actuality, there should be some mental and/or physical effects. I would've love to see Karter heal from what happened, and see his vampires comfort him in an effort to help him through it. That would've been a great way to show how the characters love one another.3. Karter and the vampires should have more animosity toward one another due to the difference in species. This is slightly mentioned and shown, but still with this in mind Karter jumped into bed with the vampires too quickly.Still despite these problems, I've never read a book quite like this, and I like surprises. So I give book 4 stars.

I liked how different each character was and how they each fit together. The story is mostly from the point of view of Karter, the werewolf. He is the kind of guy who screws up a lot, says the wrong thing at the wrong time etc. The story starts with him at odds with his adopted werewolf pack and having large gambling debts with mafia types. He is left with no choices when he is sent to a vampire den to be food for money to pay off his debts. Each vampire is a very different character. Karter finds himself drawn to each of them in different ways as they push different buttons. Sexy times have good variety with this bunch. They give him an order and discipline that he has not been able to do for himself. I would like to see more of these characters in a follow up book.

As a storyguide beginning his third MAGE chronicle and as a player starting in a separate chronicle, I found this book very useful in further detailing the ways in which true shamans work in the World of Darkness. In some ways, the book continues the themes expounded in the Dreamspeaker tradition book, but it goes further and is not limited to Dreamspeakers alone.That said, this book does focus on shamanic methods and viewpoints, and has a heavy emphasis on interaction with spirits. It's not a spirit compendium, unlike Werewolf's Axis Mundi, and though it touches on shamanic possibilities for all Traditions, it seems far less useful for non-shamanic groups like the Celestial Chorus and the Order of Hermes.Outstanding features involve blessings and curses of being a shaman, new merits and flaws, the potential "catch-all" nature of Spirit magick, discussion of totems and the World Tree aspect of the Umbra, and finally a new collection of spirit-related rotes. It's all well-written and presents minimal rules-related content. The story is illustrative without being intrusive.Bottom line was that this gave me a greatly expanded perspective on what it means to be a shaman, the responsibilities as well as the benefits. The only drawback for me was that the authors chose not to explore alternative visions of shamanism, such as technomancer or Hermetic possibilities.
