Wow. The illustrations in this book are phomemal. The book is perfect for my montessori classroom of 3-6 year olds. Some of the world are written in cursive and others are in print. Each page has a subject such as " butterflies are creative" and then includes 2-4 fact sentences. I bought the paperback and found it easy to push the pages back to flatten the book. The 11x8 size makes the book perfect for reading to a group. I highly recommend this book.
Beautifully written - I've given this as a gift to children of all ages. We recently gave it again to my youngest niece for her 3rd birthday along with a butterfly pavilion. The artwork is stunning, beautiful, vibrant and detailed. The words and definitions are clear and leave room for discussion and reduction of ideas for younger listeners while the artwork captivates their attention and wonder to hear and retain those ideas.This is an excellent series.- Check out the rest!
I love this series of beautifully illustrated science picture books. What a treat for young readers to read, learn, and view the beautiful images.I purchased the kindle version because of the sale price, but this book is best appreciated as a tangible work of art. If you are purchasing the book for your children, I would definitely advise getting a paper copy. The artwork is exquisite.
This collection is a must have, I love the art, the drawings, the watercolor and how the text makes part of the design. The books satisfy your eyes and teach you something different with every page. It doesn't feel empty. Clearly there was a lot of research and care to create this collection. I love butterflies and I've learn much about them.
I bought this for my niece's 6th birthday, and I thought it was absolutely beautiful. The illustrations are so well done and the information on butterflies is great, too. Informative & gorgeous?! Sold! I'd definitely buy this book again for my own kids in the future.
I've been buying copies of A Butterfly Is Patient for almost 10 years. I attended a workshop when the new standards for American schools first came out, and though I am not in favor of those standards, there are some benefits, such as a thorough life cycle of creatures God created. This is paced beautifully and the middle spread is gorgeous and exciting for children.
I bought the less expensive kindle version so I could decide if I wanted the paper one. It focused on the written info and skimmed by most of the illustrations. As an artist and art teacher I was disappointed not to be able to study the lovely pictures.
Beautiful illustrations, and I love that the names of the different butterflies are included near each different butterfly. It makes it easy to point them out as we read through the book.
