Clark details these missions, such as destroying way stations along the Ho Chi Minh Trail over Laos: "The scenarios of anti-aircraft artillery reaching skyward to destroy us with red and white fingers of liquid-lead and explosives were typical and characteristic of every mission." Like another reviewer, I thought I might gain perspective from a raw nugget flight surgeon's point of view. (reveal: I was an AF Test Pilot - Physician with over 10,000 hrs flight time, mostly in jet fighters). The Author must have written this book for himself, as it reads like "A Boy Scout attends summer camp". The mundane duties of a GIB in F-4s, with less than a hundred sorties....becomes his platform to rail against just about everything he encounters in VN. Another reviewer likened this 50 yr. retrospective to a Grumpy Old Man's rumination. The countless quotes, poetry, and obtuse references served to dull the reader's search for some unique MEDICAL perspective. Like many another pilot wannabe, his fawning commentary on the fighter jocks who routinely fought this war at times felt embarrassing. And, his celebration of finally being a "team player" - (by his own admission he is an introspective loner, apparently no football, baseball, wrestling H.S. experience for him) was telling. As an Academy guy, I had hoped for more insight, & less hubris from a California rheumatologist in his dotage.

The author has written about his adventures in Vietnam and in the process has revealed a great deal about himself. He is very intelligent and obviously kept copious notes, perhaps, already laying the groundwork for his book. I rated the book 5 stars because any honest effort to educate the American public about the sacrifices made by our men in uniform has some worth. The author has made his family proud by keeping his moral compass, at a time when other American serviceman were indulging themselves in the nearby brothels and as a result having to be treated for venereal diseases. This is truly a different story, told by a man with a strong character, and I applaud him for having the courage to publish this book. I am sure that this book will have its share of opinions, based on all the different quotations, which were a distraction. I recommend this book nonetheless.

Interesting experience of young M.D. in Viet Nam as a flight surgeon during 66-67. Have read quite a few books on Viet Nam but this one was quite different than the average soldier or Marine out in the field. Books was a little long,could have been edited more,but otherwise was an enjoyable read.

A good reference source on the day-to-day 12th TFW and its operations. The writer is helpful in providing minute details flying in combat that fighter pilots would ignore. He is frank in his assessment of those he flew with and served. And as a physician he details the brutal horror recovering the remains of men killed in action.

Exceptional read for those interested in more than the combat action of the men who served in Vietnam. Chapter 28 is about the F4 accident report starting on chapter 26. It is odd that the USAF official accident report lays the blame for the F4 loss on tower controllers when the true cause was PE.

Very slow read and repetitive. Author could have short end the book by not saying the same things in every chapter.

Clark started the book off with the tempo of a young warrior on the adventure of a lifetime but two thirds through he started injecting his personal philosophies.

So full disclosure that I've known Raef for a number of years as a colleague and friend. That fact makes it harder for me to be unbiased about this book compared to a work written by an author that I've never met. That said, I feel that this book is an excellent resource. What sets Raef's coverage apart from others in my opinion is two things: 1) the clarity/transparency of the writing and 2) the case studies that he uses to illustrate the points he makes.First, Raef does an excellent job of making difficult concepts easy to understand through *how* he writes. He's able to write in a manner that is both conversational and approachable, but that doesn't "talk down" to the reader. Moreover, he is careful to ground the topics he covers in "real world" examples that help to explain why the reader should care.This book covers quite a bit of ground: from fundamental security concepts to more advanced and technical topics. For a non-practitioner with an interest in security, this is the perfect introduction. It gives them the fundamentals supported by real-world evidence of why they matter. For the beginning practitioner, this provides a fantastic starting point as it serves as a sort of "gateway" to the security community. A new or more junior practitioner can directly "springboard" from this work into areas where they might need to do more detailed research for their particular job. This book lays out in detail the fundamental concepts that they need to understand to approach that material.All in all a great resource.

The book was informative if you know nothing about cyber security. It is very basic. Good for someone that just needs to know the very entry level info, this book isn’t for someone interested in getting into this field.

Not a bad book. It just didn't cover the issues we were looking for. Looks like it would be ok for someone who doesen't have many issues with Cyber security. For those who have a minor amount of saavy regarding the issue you might want to look elswhere. Again, it does say Cybersecurity for Beginners. It was well written with limited emphasis on crucial security issues for chronic attack targets.

A well thought out, intelligently written book on digital security issues and how to combat them, both before and after an attack. Great use of index of terms with their definitions at the end of the book.

Mr. Meeuwisse does an excellent work at doing an introduction about the general concepts of cybersecurity. In my opinion, the book is written for a "business-like" kind of reader and not so much for a technical person.Some parts, have to admit, i skimmed. But in general it is an outstanding book for anyone who doesn't know where to start!

As a n00b in thr cybersecurity space, I found this book to be incredibly insightful. The "Cyber-to-English" dictionary is quite helpful, too!

I learned so much information and events about cyber security that I once never knew! Very helpful for getting into the field. Covers the basics and informative.

I'll admit my bias in that I hate orthopedics, so I may be a bit jaded. I looked at it once and then didn't use it again. I feel like the info I read was a bit too out of date and didn't seem relevant. You could probably do fine without it, especially if you are a health care student who want to specialize in something else.

Excellent and timeless review of the physical exam of the musculoskeletal system. Great for the medical student who needs to hone their patient examination skills for common musculoskeletal complaints. Pictures are simple and easy to understand.

As a student I found this book to be an excellent supplemental text. It's simple and concise. What I appreciate most is that unlike my class text, it walks you through an exam step by step. It takes you through a logical and comprehensive exam like an orthopedics beginners guide. As student this was more helpful in developing my exam skills than a giant book of multiple conditions and tests and related anatomy like my required text.

Comprehensive with numerous detailed (yet easy to understand) diagrams of anatomy for bony landmarks, tendons, etc. Excellent resource for providers new to an orthopedic setting. I am an NP who recently started at an outpatient chiropractic rehab practice and it was recommended to me by the physiatrist I work with to learn specific orthopedic examinations and to review anatomy.

They don't make this book anymore, but there's still enough in print to sell them until they're gone. I hope they reprint someday, because despite its age, there are few better guides for physical examination of injuries

This book goes through all joints and how to examine them properly with drawings to help any student understand what bony landmarks are meant to be palpated and manipulated. I don't practice extremity adjusting all that much in my practice, but this book will definitely put you on a good path towards understanding and performing in your own career.

It is an older book, which mean some of the terminology is a bit out of date, but the information is presented very well and in an easily assimilable way. Of the 6 books I have to read this term, this is my favorite...and the one I get the most out of.

Even though I've been LDS my entire life I've never read the Lectures on Faith all the way through. In my opinion these give a good overview of the "mechanics" of faith. It was also of interest to me that the Bible was used extensively in these. The only complaint I have in reading these is that some of the question and answer sections in the book become redundant. I would recommend this book to any student of LDS history as well as those seeking a greater understanding of faith.

Lectures on Faith is deceptively simplistic without intending to be so. It's very short, about seventy-five pages. However, gospel principles relating to the Plan of Salvation; the creation; family order, obligations, and accountability; and missionary work are so skillfully woven through the text that a cursory reading belies the depth of the doctrine. I haven't finished reading it and am going to have to reread what I've read. The book is only for the serious explorer of religious doctrines. It puts the burden of belief squarely on the shoulders of the individual in plain, simple language grounded firmly in scripture.

An excellent book written by the LDS prophet Joseph Smith. It is not just for the Mormon people but anyone who desires to increase their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Wonderful discourse on the subject of faith, the logic makes it difficult to dispute. A major theme is that to faith sufficient for salvation, one needs to have a correct understanding of God and his attributes.

Of you are interested in 1st hand accounts and mormon doctrine this book is excellent, although the writing style might not be the most dynamic the material covered is extensive.

I very much enjoy learning the great truths contained in these lectures.

This book like all of his books is superb beyond words can say. The things you will learn from it that you didn't know before or in accuracy is a treasure indeed. Many people who have a lot of ego/pride and lacking in humility will miss out on this rare gem of sacred knowledge to advance themselves spiritually. People really need Gnosis no matter what religion or none religion they adhere to. I know from experience that Gnosis is the real path and the real true teachings and knowledge that this humanity is sorely missing, especially all these different sects of religions today that have deviated from the truth of God's Word and Law. Samael Aun Weor and the Gnostic teachings are the only real honesty that I have ever encountered of the sickness of our world. He gives it straight out with no pun intended. I can feel that it's done out of real sincere love so we don't continue to hurt ourselves living in the darkness of ignorance. Do yourself a favor and get this book and all his other books! I have a lot of his books and plan on purchasing more of them or owning them all!

This is not a work of literary interpretation or exegesis, therefore the author does not always justify his exposition of the text with historical or literary evidence. He claims that the message of the book of Revelation must be understood by spiritually investigating the original sources of the work via meditation and that he, the author, has done just that. Therefore some readers may reject his interpretation on the grounds of insufficient supporting evidence. Readers curious to hear a spiritually revolutionary viewpoint on the Revelation of St. John are encouraged to buy the book, even if they are not familiar with the author's previous works. However those unfamiliar with the works of Samael Aun Weor will benefit from doing a Google search to find out more information about the author and his work prior to purchasing. Such a search will turn up some sites that have excellent and detailed information and others that don't. The reader is free to decide which of them to believe.

Any true student of the Christian Mysteries should take the time to read this book. There are a lot of commentaries and interpretations of the Apocalypse, most of which are based on pure fanaticism rather than spiritual facts. This is not one of those books. The author gives sound and informed understanding that you cannot find anywhere else, as these teachings were not given publicly previously. However, now we have access to the doctrine of Revelations as it was understood by the Initiates of times immemorial and a true practitioner will take the time to meditate upon these lines of legitimate scripture.

I feel like the concepts presented in the book are too fragmented and not explained clearly enough. Some previous understanding of these concepts is assumed by the writer. I had to put it down and stop reading it because it was too hard to understand.

I'm a board-certified Internal Medicine M.D. with a large patient practice in Los Angeles. I downloaded the Kindle edition of financial guru Jean Chatzky's and wellness expert Dr. Michael Roizen's new book "Age-Proof" last evening. It was so chock-full of sage advice that I stayed up into the wee hours reading it all the way through.After 25+ years of medical practice I'm rather skeptical of and not easily impressed by the litany of books offering what I consider to be "fad" advice for healthy living. Most are either inaccurate, hyperbolic, based on junk-science or just plain boring. "Age-Proof", in my professional opinion, is a singular exception. My initial (inarticulate) gut reactions as I read Jean and Dr. Mike's expert health and wealth advice were "Wow." "Terrific." "Finally." "It's about time."In a nutshell, "Age-Proof" offers clear, simple, actionable, scientifically legitimate advice about staying healthy and financially solvent as the decades pile up. And the key messages are delivered in a caring, funny and non-threatening format for the oft-scary interconnected topics of health and wealth. As a doc striving daily to impart both healthy living and practical life advice to my aging patient population (i.e. anyone over 40), "Age-Proof" will very likely become a must-read recommendation for my patients.Thanks so much to Jean and Dr. Mike for sharing your wisdom and mentoring with the world.

Not too bad overall. However, if you want to do better, I'd go with "Younger Next Year (& turn back your biological clock)", By Cris Crowley & Henry Lodge MD for the health and longevity part.. (You won't be willing to do all the stuff listed in either book - neither am I - but this book is still more readable and I think a bit better plan. For the financial side of the equation, go instead to the most recent update of Andrew Tobias' "The Only Investment Guide You'll Ever Need".

There's lots of good advice in this book. Some or much of the financial and health recommendations you're probably already doing or want to do.After reading through this book, I think it may become a reference guide for me over the next several years. On the other hand, much of the advice would probably be better accessing through a website, an online course, and some personal coaching.There's so much that we need to be doing to improve our financial and health conditions, but there's only so much time in the day. This book can be helpful, but really it's only a guide.By the way, when they talk about budgeting your money, don't try using the old pen and paper method. Simply use the service, YouNeedABudget.com. The money stuff I have covered (but I am guessing most people don't). It's the health stuff I struggle with as I get older. This book has helped me create new habits that have me becoming healthier. (Lost 8 pounds since I bought the book. I can jog two miles now without worrying about a heart attack. That kind of stuff.)Great book. Well written.
