***I was provided a copy of this by the publisher in exchange for an honest review***If you enjoy the tv series, you'll enjoy this comic. The art is very similar to the show. there are lots of colors and quite a few pages with so many details I found myself checking out what the background ponies were up to. The humor and dialogue is also very similar to the tv series.If you know a kid who loves the show, this would be a perfect way to introduce them to comic books! I'll give this graphic novel a 3/5, but that's only because it is childish and light. But, that's what My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is all about, teaching lessons in a really fun way.

This Volume contains the the 4 separate comics that were sold a while ago spanning the whole Queen Chrysalis arc. Having never had a chance to purchase or read any of them this was a great opportunity to do so. At it's current price of about $10 it's a great deal and even at regular price having all the chapters in one volume is extremely convenient. Highly recommend to those that are fans of the series.

Okay, I will admit it. Braces self and admits the truth, I am a fan of the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Yes, that's right.... I'm a brony (male Pony fan). So what? I'm being facetious with the melodramatic embarrassment, but that is to introduce this topic. I love this show, because it is actually really good. It has plot lines that children can enjoy, with depth, characterization, jokes, references that adults can like as well. All of the above is because Lauren Faust, when originally tasked to created the newest generation of My Little Pony set out to make this newest iteration of the franchise one that both parents AND kids will want to watch.Anyone who has paid attention at all to the number of comics and manga I have read know that I love those genres. As a fan of the show, I was pleased to hear that they had started releasing comics that are part of the same continuity as the show.My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Vol. 1 is a really fun adventure. The plot is simple enough, in that the evil Queen Chrysalis of the Changelings has returned to set up a trap for Twilight Sparkle and the rest of the Mane 6 (Fluttershy, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, and Apple Jack). Though simple, the plot is actually pretty clever, in that it is well-thought out, and one that the characters all know is a trap that they have to walk into, because Chrysalis has forced their hands that effectively. But the trap at the end is not the only trick the evil Queen has up her sleeve. The trek to her kingdom is fraught with peril, and they will need all of their wits to make it through.The main draw for me is not the over-arching story. As I said, it is quite clever, though simple, so it is worth a read itself, though the end is a tad spoiled by seeming like a complete Deus ex Machina. That is the only real criticism I can come up with here, though. For me, however, the draw is the characterization and the way the story is told. The book is filled with shout-outs and clever and funny references to everything from horror movies like The Shining, to works such as The Phantom of the Opera, and characters from The Lord of the Rings and Transformers, among others. And the comedy and the interactions of the characters are hilarious. This is not some lame kiddie-story.At the end, there is the lesson learned and the good guys winning, and it is a tad more explicit than I liked, but that was only about three pages worth of panels. The rest of the book was written with subtlety and wit. There was a great section at the end where they had a short mini-comic that seemed to be half filling in plot holes, and half a Western comic book take on the Yonkoma sections in Japanese manga.This was a really great comic that I am sure both fans, and non-fans, of the current MLP franchise will enjoy.

I bought these for my 9 year old daughter and she absolutely loves these books! She makes an effort of getting through the whole book as soon as they arrive. The stories are great and the art is amazing to look at. As an added bonus to this series of books, the last few pages in the back of the book is full of beautiful artwork. This is a must have if you love my little pony and cant wait to read more about their adventures.

First off, this story arc is darker than the TV show is. This is partially down to the writers attempting to prove how sinister and sociopathic the villain is (Queen Chrysalis from the Season 2 series finale of the TV show). There's a few cells in here that might scare or upset very young or sensitive readers; this comic series was intended to appeal to and was written for older audiences anyway.For this introduction to the comic series, they've done a fantastic job. The artwork is great, vastly detailed and overflowing with pop culture references for those who take the time to look for it. The story line's amusing and you get a bonus "art gallery" at the end (it's essentially a collection of comic book covers that were featured on the front of the comics that this book includes).

As an avid My Little Pony fan, I was excited to finally read this comic in it's entirety. Ladies and Gentlecolts, you will not be disappointed! A engrossing storyline featuring our sinister Queen Chrysalis in an adventure that our mane six have never done before captures your attention and pulls you along for the ride. This is something thats believable and I can see it becoming part of the television show. However, this comic explores darker themes that might be disturbing for some children and parents. The art is exciting and detailed, so detailed that it can be a bit scary for younger readers as well (for instance Chrysalis' teeth are in plain sight in all it's pointy glory). As a adult reader I found it really enjoyable, it really appeals to people from different age groups.This collection contains the first four comics (that together creates a complete story - which includes all the issues cover art as well). My only complaint was I wish the art was farther away from the crease, I found myself stretching my book a little to uncover more of the panels, which I really didn't want to do. Nonetheless this is a must have for any fan, young or old. I will be buying Vol. 2 when it comes out in a few months!

Okay, although I am a comic book fan, I probably would never have read this if my kids had not been interested. But I read it. And I laughed. It was actually very funny with many subtle jokes that probably appeal more to older children and adults. The illustration is great, and it's something you can probably go back and read a few times. However, if you don't know anything about the ponies of Ponyville, you may need to learn a bit about their characters before reading this.

Nice quick guide, was disappointed in all the abbreviations. Plain english without the abbreviations would be much better, as don't have all of them memorized and you have to keep referring back to the beginning of the book to interpret what is listed.

This book is a compilation of charting outlines for various conditions. It is not very educational and is very repetitive but a fair reminder of what to include in documentation.

Actually I mostly bought the book for historically having one more book written by Linus, while thinking I wouldn’t get any news concerning cancer, of which I owe around 40 books, but I was gladly surprised when reading the book.For example, it was interesting to read the chapter 2, “The Causes of Cancer”, where we look back in history, starting in 1775 when Sir Percival Pott, a London surgeon, described the cancer of the scrotum that was prevalent among the adolescent chimney sweeps. And since then many other cancers were discovered, among other the “Mule-spinners cancer”, coursed by the cotton mills, lung cancer for the uranium miners, caused by the radon gas, and around 25 – 30 years ago, as I recall it, then the discovering of asbestos cancer. And concerning the asbestos cancer, as written in the book, even more alarming it was as it also resulted in cancer for family member having contacted the workers’ clothes. And actually first in this week, in Denmark, there now have been stated compensation payment of $ 25,000 to each of the still living cancer damaged wives. Besides in this book I first learned about working women who died by bone cancer after painting the dials on watches and clocks with radioactive paint back in 1916 to 1924. I, and even an English doctor, told her that this was nonsense, but she was scared and followed the Thai doctors order. Later a doctor from Bangkok, daughter to a family she knew, here in Chiang Mai, and told her that the doctors in Chiang Mai are doing totally wrong.One, day a year later, when she returned home from control in the hospital, she told that that day 30 women were at surgery for breast cancer, and all would have both of their breasts removed. Strangely, as her surgery doctor, only around 40 years, and educated in Sweden, and where Sweden absolutely is up to date concerning doctor knowledge and work.In the book in each of the chapters 20 and 21 we from A to Z get illustrative patient cases, where we in all of the cases realize how the vitamin C actually helped, either by resulting in less, or no side-problem, living longer and even cases in being cured. When she then went to Stanford Medical Center, it by scanning showed up that she had a 2.5-cm-diameter tumor lying deep in the left part of the brain. She was advised immediate operation, but told that she might be paralyzed in the right arm and leg. She then refused, scared for maybe living so in the future, and then went to another neurosurgeon, but he told the same. But a relative told her about an article she had read about vitamin C, and then the wife started on daily taking 10 grams of vitamin C, not much believing in that it would help, but scared by the thinking on being paralyzed. A month later as she was feeling a bit better, she then again when for scanning, and it showed up that the tumor had partly diminished, and deformed. Two month later scanning showed that the tumor had totally disappeared, and she was back healthy as before.The book is among other also helpful with the chapter concerning the treatment of cancer by respectively beside Surgery, also by Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy, Hormones, Immunotherapy, and Unconventional forms of cancer treatment. We there learn that each of these treatment is helpful for same cancers and without help for other. Even the “bad” Chemotherapy is advised in some cases.The book is actually a scientifically report, by showing the many results by using vitamin C, and in the appendixes, statistically putting them together. But after reading the book, which is printed 25 years ago, I wonder why nearly no researches has been made by especially the state of USA. A person who takes vitamin C before surgery and during surgery, does much better than one who does not. Why are not all doctors aware of this and using it for the benefit of their patients?

A convervative, non-hyped look at the effects of large doses of Vitamin C on various types of cancer. By two doctors with many years of hands-on experience with real patients and research. This type of work has been going on since the 30s and yet most doctors still have no idea of helpful injectable and IV ascorbate can be. I now take 6-10 grams daily, and would definitely take much more if I was ill. (Though I think the large daily doses will provide a great deal of prevention.)

Old but entirely valid research shows that VERY high doses of ascorbic acid, too high for our guts to tolerate, given I.V. do wondders to stop cancer growth and spread. Since it's a low cost option, no mega drug company has any motive for human clinical trials to "prove" its efficacy, exactly why so many cheap natural products never get fully tested...not enough profit in it.

this book has good info , my review is mostly of the medical establishment and not so much of this book , its more of a wake up call. Ive always Questioned why the "Cancer specialist" and all the foundations for cancers never can find cures. its quite sad when one studys and does research on our Medical history and who were the "elite billionaires" who owned the biggest pharmaceutical companies and also founded our American medical Association to discredit those doctors and scientist who were really searching for cures. its sad to see that we here in the "supposed" greatest country in the world we will watch a cancer patient die after radiation,chemo and drugs but we will not allow them to seek alternative medicine. its sad to see how John D Rockefeller created the American medical association that single handedly destroys those scientist who dare ruin the greatest scam ever created . its sad to see that Cancer here in the Greatest country in the world is the SECOND biggest business behind Rockefellers Pharmaceuticals. its sad to see how John D Rockfeller single handedly started "donating" millions of dollars to medical schools to brain wash medical and change the what was taught in those schools, and the others schools that dared not take a dirty nickel of rockefeller money were now a "non-credited" school ,so anything they teach is worthless. its sad to see now John D Rockefeller donated millions of dollars to the "board of education" and made our education a whole lot worse by dumbing us down totally. its sad to see most of the world is totally asleep to this and so much more of what is being done to us but yet for lack of curiosity and being dumbed down most will never figure out all this and so much more. My wife always said "Ignorance is Bliss" and she is right, the more i research an question everything and get to the truth the angrier i get . im a million times happier knowing the truth on how we really are just guinea pigs to the pharmaceutical companies and they NEVER cure a disease they just learn how control it so you can be dependent on their carefully engineered drugs for the rest of your life. its very important to know that when John D Rockefeller Created the AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION it was designed to destroy the competition which was holistic and naturopath and all other types of natural therapies which did NOT treat your illness or disease but instead actually CURED YOU. Rockefeller could not push his drugs on you if you went to natural treatments , instead he destroyed most of these colleges and the AMA did the reat of the dirty work by discrediting these doctors calling them Quacks and thus the name "ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE" was born. since these good doctors did not want to join the medical mafia they were left out to dry ,called names and not allowed to LEGALLY practice any more. thus making the normal citizen a guinea pig for life. its also sad to see how this same scum bag and his totally ultra rich freinds caused the "great depression" and when americans started investigating him and his buds he bought out most media and newspaper companies and squashed the small reporters cause now since he owned most media he was in totall control of the reporters, they could no longer report on their own boss. i could go on for days but i hope that after you read this and try and learn more about our medical institutions , not all are bad but its just a business. if cancer was allowed to be cured there would be no cancer specialist,therapist,nurses and so on and so forth.no need for drugs. look up Linus Pauling, Rene Caisse, Max Gerson, Hoxsey,ROYAL RAYMOND RIFE,Virginia livingston, and there are so many others who succeeded but didnt realize the AMA was there to stop them and many other associations to discredit them. also on the internet you have a website dedicated to brainwash you even more and its called Quackwatch which is run by supposed doctors and its main priority is to scare you into beleiving their writings.

Most of the book is easy to understand. For those who don't want to start radiation treatment or chemotherapy, an alternate treatment is available for consideration.

This is a very good book, written by two experts in their fields. Linus Pauling has the unusual honor of being a double Nobel Prize winner. His insights into heart disease and cancer are very good. His advice on nutrition is invaluable.

A must read and so interesting!

It looks like someone took a book about Kindle Fire and tried to edit it into a book for the Paperwhite. But they left in lots of Fire-specific stuff such as the Silk browser.A specific example is the beginning of Chapter 7, Installing and Launching Apps: "After setting up the Kindle Paperwhite, users can spend leisure time enjoying books and magazine on a high speed, full color display". The Kindle Paperwhite, of course, is a black and white e-ink display.This chapter then goes on to explain how to install apps from the Amazon App Store -- which can't be used by the Paperwhite.

I found the Kindle Paperwhite Manual very helpful and I recommend it. Even with the explanantiion I found the Paperwite challenging in several areas.My problem areas are - Specifically, The Cloud and seeing all the books I have available which I have on my 'original' Kindle. I can't seem to see a list longer than what's shown on the Homepage which is about 6 books. I have a lot on my First kindle but I dont have a separate list. So I feel I don't dare get rid of my original kindle.Maybe you can explain it to me.Probably for most people it's easier because they just have the paperwhite.

The book has a few typographical errors and absolutely NO illustrations at all. This limits the effectiveness of the book to be anything buy just OK. Sometimes it is vague in its references to functions and does not full explain things like how to execute a function except in a vague manner. I do not mean to unjustly criticize the work, but it is a light weight get started guide rather than a definitive guide. I think that title was put on the cover to get it sold because it is in competition with several other user guides.

Manual writers should give af a draft of their effort to someone who is new to the Kindle and see if the newby can use it to figure out how to operate the device. This book probably makes sense to the writer but it is of very limited use to a new user. It needs a lot more step by step detail with illustrations.

It is a good books. explain most kindle paper white features and how to use it.but it need to improve:1. look like some content is not for paper white: video, app, color, ETC.2. battery life only 8 hour ?3. organize book easier to be done from computer4. need to add more tips for advanced user and also how to solve browser problems. sometimes my browser got problems.

The book does not take the place of a small starter guide. Without the help of a diagram it was hard to follow. I am struggling with the features of the paperwhite. Have gone back to the guide several times and did not find it helpful. How do I access word definitions. Is there an easy way to trace a character back. In a history book such as I am currently reading there are many key players. Hard to remember from one reading to the next. This guide was not helpful.

The online manual was hard for me to use as I was reading it. I need a printed copy to correspond to what I'm seeing on the Kindle.

I was preparing a 'gift basket' for a charity. I found a neat cardboard box that looked like a pirates chest, put some crumbled tissue paper on the bottom and placed a Kindle Paper White, an Amazon $50 gift card and this Users Guide inside the chest and shrink wrapped it in cellophane. My basket was the hit of the party. The lady that won the chest was an avid reader, so I was happy!
